KORE Therapy

What is KORE Therapy?

Kinesthetic Optimum Recovery Enhancement (formerly known as Oriental Body Balancing) is a holistic fusion of Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern Western medicine, which works to harmonise mind, body and spirit as the physical, mental and emotional needs of the body are addressed.

KORE Therapy uses a non-invasive, gentle system of diagnostic muscle testing, which determines exactly where in the body a problem originates. Once that information is noted, the therapist can then proceed with a treatment plan specifically designed for that client's body's needs.

KORE Therapy utilises a host of different techniques such as: pelvic rebalancing; spinal mechanics, ligament alignment; abdominal and cranial palpation; sacro-cranial rebalancing; Ileo-caecal valve testing and balancing; neck, shoulder, knee and ankle releases; Anmo Fu abdominal massage; Cupping; Qi Gung therapy; Sacral float and release; Tuina massage; stress release; acupressure; arm, leg and pelvic re-patterning; allergy testing, and many more, in order to re-establish neurological integrity throughout the system as a whole.

KORE Therapists understand the true holistic nature of the body and how all the different systems interact with each other to cause pain and illness. For example: neck pain/ stiffness may increase intracranial pressure and so restrict blood flow. This in turn may reduce hormonal flow, leading to thyroid disorders, insomnia, depression and anxiety.

Who can benefit from KORE Therapy?

KORE Therapy is suitable for people of any age, including children.

How long does a treatment last?

The first consultation may take a little longer, but generally speaking a treatment lasts approximately 60-75 minutes.

How might I feel after a KORE Therapy treatment?

Many clients report that they feel taller as the body comes into correct alignment and posture. Many notice a marked difference in their walking gait, feeling post-treatment as if they are gliding along, instead of their usual 'clunky', awkward gait. Some people report their sleep pattern, digestive and bowel habits, etc often change too.

You may feel some new aches and pains for a few days. This is because the 'lazy' muscles are now having to work, while the muscles that were exhausted or inflamed get their chance to rest a bit! Using these 'new' muscles is like going to the gym after a long lay-off: you notice it the next day!

Some clients actually feel off-kilter for a while, as if they are misaligned AFTER a treatment. This is because, after years of being used to the body in a certain position, even though it was incorrect and was having a negative impact on the health of the joints, organs etc, it felt 'normal' to them. This passes after a while and they enjoy the health benefits that come with their balanced, realigned body.

Jane's own experience of KORE Therapy, as a patient:

For years I had had hip and neck pain, and had regular McTimmoney chiropractic treatments to correct my misalignment, but I found I was having to go more and more often for treatments, and it was having less and less effect on the problem. I didn't know what to do with myself! I hurt all over in the end and walked around holding onto my neck, as if my head would come off if I let go! I was seriously starting to suspect that I had a broken neck.

Walking and driving for any distance was painful too, as I'd have to stop every so often to adjust my leg within the hip socket. What I didn't realise at the time was that a pelvic imbalance, left without correct treatment, invariably leads to neck constriction and pain.

Then I heard about KORE Therapy. After my first treatment I felt as if a weight had been lifted from my head, neck, back and shoulders, as the pain disappeared. My mood instantly lifted as the 'happy' hormone, serotonin, was able to flow throughout my improved circulation once my tight neck was released. It also partly explained my history of thyroid disorders over the years. I was SO impressed that I immediately signed up to train as a KORE Consultant at Dr John Brazier's College of Oriental Body Balance.
